School of Mass Communication, KIIT Deemed University has followed a tradition of conducting successful Public Relations Summits for the past couple of years. This tradition gave birth to the idea of a Public Relations Club of, for and by the students of the school.

The idea was executed on 9 January 2021, when all the students along with a few faculty members of the school conducted a virtual meeting regarding the preparation of starting the club; The Public Relations Club (PRC) was formed on the same day. All the students are general members of the club by default. The other category of membership is Executive Members. The club has organized various Public Relations related activities and events over the course of 2021. KSMC PR Club has organized National PR Day talk on 21st April 2021. Dr Krishnamurthy Sriramesh from University of Colorado Boulder has graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. On various occasions eminent academicians and PR professional are invited to deliver talks and intereacted with students. Prof Anubhuti Yadav, Course Director, Ad and PR, IIMC New Delhi, Mr Rakesh Pattnaik, Branch Head Adfactors PR Pvt Ltd, Bhubaneswar, were invited to KSMC PR Club on different occasions.

Apart from that, the club has also managed to conduct two very unique activities- the National Level Press Release Writing Competitions for Master’s students and for UG students. The entries for both the competitions were evaluated by distinguished industry professionals and academicians such as Mr Arindam Basu, media educator, author, and communicator, for the Masters level and Dr Sapna M S Professor and Coordinator of Radio Manasa, the University of Mysore for the UG level. Furthermore, the evaluators also graced with the members of the club and the participants from all over India in the result announcement events for the competitions, organized by the club. They provided tips, tricks, and do’s and don’ts to help the youth write better, more impactful press releases. The Club strives to continue organizing new and unique activities and workshops in the future.

The club is solely run by the students of the School of Mass Communication, KIIT Deemed University, under the guidance of the school faculty. This has helped the club members gain insight into the industry and hone their skills in the field of PR. The club hosts monthly meetings and group discussions on various facets of Public Relations.

For the first half term in 2021, Ms Nidhi Nyari served as the President of the club with Mr Charles Karanja Munderu and Ms Sonali Mishra as Secretary and Treasurer of the club respectively. Dr Anurag Sahu and Dr Bidu Bhusan Dash contributed to the club as Ex officio members.

Currently, for the term 2021-2022, Ms Priyanshi Tripathy has been elected as the President of the club with Ms M Snehanjali as the Secretary, Ms Shraddha as the Vice-President, and Ms

Baisakhi as the Joint-Secretary. Now along with the faculties, ex-President Ms Nidhi Nyari are working as the ex officio members .
