Second Semester students of Integrated Masters of Mass Communication and Journalism, KIIT School of Mass Communication visited ‘The Samaj’, a prestigious media organization of Odisha on 26th April, 2018.
As part of the academia-industry interface, the purpose of the study trip to Cuttack was to provide the students with firsthand knowledge of workings of a newspaper organization and its management.
The students were taken on a guided tour to the various departments of the newspaper, where they were given insights into the process of printing, publication department, advertisement department, circulation department, Editorial and online section of one of the oldest newspaper in Odisha.
The enthusiastic students were given rich insights into the history and working of The Samaj newspaper by Dr. Pravas Acharya, secretary, Servants of the People Society. The budding journalists also met Sri Priyabrata Mohanty, Working General Manager, The Samaj as well as senior journalists and personnel of various departments, who explained the functioning of the various departments to them.
