In the fourth Monday Morning talk of 2019 today, Dr. Shradhanjali Nayak, Director, Public Relations, KIIT Deemed to be University, interacted with students of  KIIT School of Mass Communication on challenges faced in Public Relations.

“KIIT Deemed University is a university with a difference and you also have to be different”, told Dr. Shradhanjali  Nayak to the Integrated Master of Communication and Journalism (IMCJ) students. “To stand out you need to read a lot. Everyday reading newspaper is important. Try to analyze at least one news every day, write down a page everyday on an issue, go back to it in next week and find out your mistakes, rewrite. This is the process of learning and unlearning,” she advised.

To be a good PR, “You need to be empowered from within with the knowledge you have.  For that lots of reading is needed. Once input goes only then output will come out”, said Director, Public Relations.

Speaking from her two decades of experience in Public Relations, she said that communication and information are the most important components of effective PR.

“Effective and constant  communication is very important. It consists of sharing authentic information to separate facts from rumours. The skills sets required for a Public Relations Officer is knowledge. PR professional should know both inside as well as what is happening in the outside world.”, she cited.

At the beginning, Ms. Nitali Johori, fourth semester IMCJ student introduced the guest and Ms Tanushree Mishra IMCJ second semester student  proposed the Vote of Thanks and presented flower bouquet to Dr. Shradhanjali  Nayak.

Dr. B. B. Dash, Assistant Professor and Course Coordinator; Ms. Ruby Nanda and Mr. Sudarsan Sahoo, Faculty Associates, KIIT School of Mass Communication  were also present during the talk.
